Tanya at Suaimhneas Reflexology (SOO-iv-nass)
My name is Tanya and I live at home with my husband and sister-in-law, my boy Monty (a black Labrador!) and a flock of chickens. I continue to work in health and social care on a part time basis and work as a Reflexologist four days a week from a treatment room at the end of the garden.
I have worked in health and social care since I started volunteer work at the age of 15. Predominantly this has been in mental health but I have also worked with older adults and people with learning disabilities and physical disabilities. However after twenty years service and after becoming the main carer for my sister-in-law, I felt it was time to make some personal changes and to develop a healthier work - life balance.
I wanted to be able to use the knowledge and skills I had learnt and developed over the years in a more holistic, positive and rewarding way and after finding complementary therapies helpful for my own health and wellbeing, I sought to train as a Reflexologist.
I was fortunate to train under the tuition of Allison Walker at the Contemporary Reflexology College and qualified with a Centralia Mastership Level 5 in Reflexology. The comprehensive training this course provided, enables me to practice reflexology on the feet, hands and ears. I have received specialist training in providing reflexology for people living with cancer, those in need of palliative care and to support people requiring fertility and maternity support.
Stepping into the relatively unknown world of reflexology and taking that 'leap of faith' has been incredibly rewarding, if somewhat daunting at first! Everyday I am amazed at the power of reflexology and since qualifying I have had the opportunity to further develop my knowledge and skills to truly enhance the experience for my clients and for myself. This has been a very exciting chapter in my life and I look forward to being part of this growing service.
